Coronavirus update from Bull City Family Medicine and Pediatrics

We know you have questions about the spread of COVID-19, also called coronavirus.

We want to assure you that we are dedicated to your care, and we have policies, treatments and procedures in place to help you.

Just as important, we want to be sure you have access to resources where you can keep track of the latest developments with the coronavirus.

Where can I find reliable information?
The internet is full of information, but not all of it is reliable or accurate. Therefore, the best resource is the site for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), where you can find extensive facts on the COVID-19 coronavirus. The CDC site is updated regularly, and has information on:

  • Symptoms
  • How it spreads
  • Prevention
  • Testing
  • Treatment

Another useful source of information is the website for the NC Department of Health and Human Services.

How are patients be tested for COVID-19?

If you are experiencing fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath we recommend you call for evaluation. There are two options:

  • You will be screened for symptoms, travel and exposure over the phone. After screening you may be directed to come in for evaluation or directed to call the NC Department of Health and Human Services or be directed to a testing site.

If you are instructed to come to our office for evaluation be aware of the following:

If you have a mask please wear it to your visit!

  • All patients (sick and healthy) that have an appointment need to bring their cell phone to their visit. Patients will stay in their vehicle and call the office when they arrive and check in over the phone. A medical assistant will call you after you’re checked in and triage you over the phone. The medical assistant will come get you and bring you in for your appointment. Only healthy patients will enter and exit through the front door/lobby. All sick patients will be evaluated in their vehicle and come in through the back door and go to a designated sick room to be seen.

How do I stay safe & reduce my risk?
We understand that the outbreak of the coronavirus is upsetting and can be frightening. For most people, contracting the virus will likely be a mild event – much like the symptoms of the common cold or case of flu. However, we would like to emphasize that the best way to stay safe is to take some basic precautions. These include:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are affected. If you do have contact with those who are sick, don’t touch your face until after you have a chance to wash your hands.

We are committed to providing care for you throughout the pandemic. Don’t hesitate to call or contact us through your patient portal with any other questions.

Best in health
